What Warranty Do We Provide?

On all of the vehicles up to 8 years / 80,000 miles (except part ex to clear) we supply a 6 Months / 6,000 mile Gold Comprehensive Warranty covering an Extensive List of Major Electrical and Mechanical components against Mechanical Breakdown.

There are exclusions as with all warranties. Some of these are:
Anything that is deemed to have failed due to 'fair wear and tear'
Any item that has to be replaced as part of routine maintainance
Brake Pads, Tyres, Exhaust Systems, Wiper Blades, Bulbs, Batteries, Air Bags, In Car Entertainment and Satellite Navigation Systems

Who underwrites the Warranty ?

At L of a Car we have tried many warranty companies with varied success in making claims and getting items covered. With this in mind we now underwrite our own warranties so you will deal direct with us.


What is the Claims Limit ?

On a Gold policy the claims limit is £500 per claim, with an unlimited number of claims (up to the purchase price of the vehicle)
The Claims limit and Lenght of the Warranty can be extended, please ask for details


Can you increase the Claims Limit ?

Yes, please ask us for a quote


Can You Extend the Warranty Period ?

Yes, you can extend the cover for up to 36 Months. Ask us when you come in for a price


Where are the Repairs Carried Out ?

As the warranty is our own warranty, if you live within a reasonable distance from our garage we would usually ask you to return it to either our on site workshop in Dorchester or one of our preferred workshops in Weymouth. If you live more than 30 miles away from us then we are happy to deal with someone more local to you but insist that we are given a quote for the repairs prior to any work being carried out. Failure to notify us before a repair is carried out will result in the calim being void.


What Happens if Something Goes Wrong That Isn't Covered ?

At L of a Car we understand that sometimes things go wrong that the warranty wont cover. We do try to ensure that your new vehicle is in tip top condition giving you a new MOT when you purchase your car along with a comprehensive check in the workshop.
We are the only used car garage in Dorset, to give you extra peace of mind, we offer the following in addition to the Gold Warranty that we provide*: 

In the First Month / 250 miles we will cover 100% of the cost of the repair
In the Second Month / 500 miles we will cover 50% of the cost of the repair
In the Third Month / 750 miles we will cover 25% of the cost of the repair.

After this period, if an item needs replacing that isn't covered by the comprehensive warranty, then you will be responsible for the total cost of the repair. This does not affect your statutory rights
You WILL NOT find this peace of mind at any other garage locally !

*The above is offered at our descretion and as a gesture of good will. If we feel that we have been unfairly treated by you, the customer (which does happen !) then we reserve the right to withdraw the above additional offer. This will only be enforced in extreme circumstances

In order for us to carry out the repair, the vehicle MUST be returned to us. If you live out of the area, we must have a quotation from the repairing garage for approval before any work is carried out. We will not pay for any invoices sent that we are unaware of.


What Happens if My Car Breaks Down ?

Our warranty does not have roadside assistance included. We Reccomend that you have your own roadside / home breakdown service on your vehicle.  


Vehicles over 8 yrs / 80,000 miles & Part Ex To Clear Vehicles

The slightly older vehicles that are in stock and our Part Ex to Clear section still come with a minimum 3 Months / 3,000 mile Silver Warranty. The level of cover is slightly lower than the Gold Warranty but is still a comprehensive warranty and is in addtion to your statutory rights.
The Claims limit on these vehicles is either £250 or £500 per claim (depending on the age and mileage).

We offer the following in addition to the Silver Warranty above*: 

In the First Month / 250 miles we will cover 50% of the cost of the repair
In the Second Month / 500 miles we will cover 25% of the cost of the repair

After this period, if an item needs replacing that isn't covered by the comprehensive warranty, the you will be responsible for the total cost of the repair.

Can I upgrade from a Silver to a Gold Warranty ?
